Break in, Movie, and Highchair Upgrade

About 2 weeks ago we returned from a short vacation and that night our car was broken into.  Not just ours, but almost every car in our neighborhood that was left outside got broken into that night.  Praise the Lord for sweet friends, Wes & Shelly Tyler, who let Logan and I borrow their car for the morning and gave JD a ride to pick up our car from getting fixed that afternoon! We are grateful for you 2!!

One night this past week JD and I decided to have a movie night.  Logan wasn't quite ready for bed and the movie was despicable me, so we decided to let him watch for a little while.  It was a lot of fun and honestly I look forward to the days our family can have movie/game nights together!! We made a pallet with pillows and even shared a poptart!

This past week Logan upgraded from his highchair to the booster seat!! We have been in so many restaurants lately and even at home he just wants to be at the table with us so we thought we would give it a shot and let him be a big boy! He has done outstanding and even feeding himself completely since starting to sit there!!

"I LOVE my booster!!!"

"Food, NOW, please :)"

Daddy the other night taught the little man how to play golf! Let's just say it was a hit!

Daddy and Logan doing their stunts as usual!

Houston

This past week we got the opportunity to travel with Daddy to Houston!!
It's always a blessing to get to do that, no staying at the house at night by ourselves, going fun new places, and getting to eat out! :)
This trip we def. kept ourselves busy!! The first night we were there we went to dinner with Daddy & his coworkers.  Now, if you would have asked me what I thought, oh about a year ago, about a parent giving a child an iphone to play with at the dinner table.  My response would have probably been, "I will NEVER do that with my child." Well folks I have done a complete 180 and it is def. socially acceptable at this time or at least that was what I was telling myself at dinner that night!
Logan behaved SO well, yes it was due to the entertainment of the iphone; until it died.  But, nonetheless it was a miracle worker!

The next day Logan and I, while Daddy was at work headed out to the Houston Aquarium.
Talk about a fun morning!

Logan and I at the beginning of the aquarium.

It was so funny because the aquarium had animal noises being played over the speakers while you walked through and it scared Logan so much he didn't really want to get out of the stroller. Which let me tell you a unusual for these days! He loved the fish though and it's really one of only a few words he says right now. So he loved pointing at all of them and saying "ish ish."

We saw some pirahanas.

Logan finally got out of the stroller and would walk around when he saw the aquarium that went about us.

And one of his favorites... yes in an aquarium was this gigantic snake... ehhhh...

One of the greatest things we got to do that morning was go through and touch different sea creatures! Logan petted a stingray, horseshoe crab, and starfish! He thought it was the COOLEST thing! Honestly, I thought it was the coolest thing too!! I thought he would be scared but the stingrays would come along the side of the tank and let you touch them!

Yes, another odd thing in this aquarium. A white tiger...

Logan looking like he is reading about coral reefs! :)

I wish I could blow this picture up... he was NOT a happy camper standing next to the shark.  I mean he is a little creepy looking, but Logan has the biggest pouty face on EVER!

No more shark and were happy!!

To say the least when the weather gets nicer and we make another Houston trip with Daddy we will do the whole aquarium.  Most of the stuff is outside and they even have a train ride that I KNOW Logan would absolutely  love!

We also had the opportunity to meet up with my Uncle Joe for dinner that night at Carraba's.  It was heavenly, I think I devoured 2 loafs of bread on my own! Such a wonderful time to catch up with him and see family! Glad we got to do it!

The next day we had to check out of the hotel by noon so we planned on doing the Galleria in the morning and then meeting my Aunt Lynne for lunch! It worked out SO perfect!

The Galleria had a wonderful play area that seemed for the most part VERY clean! It also had LOTS of cars so of course we were into it!

It was a very FUN morning, Mom got to look at some shops, return some things and Logan go to run around! I could call it a success! We met my Aunt for lunch at Cafe Express, it was very good!! It was nice getting to see her and catch up with her! Hopefully next time we will have longer! :)

Logan helping Mom take the things to the car!! Such a big helper!!:)

Well, it was a great fast trip to say the least. We came home to colds, our car broken into, and an allergic reaction we are still trying to figure out! But, were glad to be home regardless! :) Thank you Lord for a safe trip home!!

Much love,
Mar

Are we caught up yet...??!?

One of the reasons I really dislike getting behind in my blogging, because I really do love doing it SO much, is that I feel like when I have missed a few weeks I can NEVER catch up completely! But, regardless I am determined to "catch up" today, even though my bed/couch is calling my name for naptime! :)

New Years Day brought LOTS of fun things!
Football games, hanging with the animals, playing with our cousin, aunt, uncle, and grandparents!
Everytime Gabe found his little spot on the couch this is how Logan wanted to snuggle with him... sweet Gabe!

Grandma & Grandpa Weathers brought Logan and my other child (his father) :) fire fighter hats!!

Cousin playing time!!

Another thing that Logan and I did over the holiday for little gifts was make cake pops! My mom gave me this fabulous idea and they turned out SO good!!
Basically they are cake balls with a handle. We made triple chocolate and funfetti cake balls and then used peppermint sticks for the handles! I thought they turned out pretty Christmas y.

Logan and I spend Friday morning at Barnes N Noble sometimes.  It's a wonderful time for him to interact with other children (quietly) and see all the COOL books, like this cars book that we can read and look at.

We also have had lots of little playdates recently, one in particular Miss. Hannah came over to play with us for the morning.  They wanted to sit in the same chair together to watch Mickey Mouse. It was so cute! At one point they were both singing the Hot Dog song!! :)

I love that my child has so many sweet friends to be surrounded by and thankfully I get to spend time with their parents and I just LOVE it!

Much love,
Mar

New Years Eve

For 3 years now we have started a tradition on New Years Eve.
My sister, soon to be brother in law, JD & I all go to the Dallas Stars Game on New Years Eve.
It's a different tradition, but such a FUN date night! I really can't wait to Logan can go with us too though! I really think he would like all the action and lights as soon as he can learn to sit still for more than 3 minutes at a time! My soon to be brother in law, Jay is always so sweet and gets the tickets for us (because he is a season ticket holder).  The last 2 years the Stars have won, but this year not so much.  This year was a little different too because most of Jay's family went and JD's family and one of our best friends Jenna came in to go with us as well! Anytime we get to spend with family and friends is ALWAYS worth it!

My sister in law, Jenn was SO sweet and kept the kids at home while we all went! We were so thankful for an evening to ourselves! Hopefully next year though we will all be able to go and we can arrange a sitter! :)

The tradition also includes a little after party, after the game is over until the countdown.  We all gather at my sister in law and brother in laws house to eat, drink, play games, and watch the countdown.  After we ring in the New Year we all have 12 grapes that we have to eat.  With each grape you eat you make a New Years Resolution. I really do love traditions!!

I'm hoping this one is a keeper!

Happy New Year!!

Much love,
