Our New Years Day started off a little unexpected!! We arrived in Arkansas on Friday evening and went straight to our rent house to look it over and inventory everything we would need for the morning to clean and get ready for our new renters. We then headed to my parents house, Emme & Papa's house, to spend the weekend with them! Saturday we woke up went straight to the rent house, Logan came with us to help and my Mom was gracious enough :) to stay home and watch Jackson for us. After the rent house was all cleaned up we all went out to lunch and then headed back to my parents house to relax and take some naps. The rest of the day consisted of football games and grilling out and only making it to the New York Countdown, ha! I am proud we made it till that one though. New Years Day we woke up and decided to go to the nearby park and let out some energy before nap time. This is where these pictures come in:
That would be Logan's leg above. He fractured his left tibia, they called it a green stick break because it only broke on one side. It happened going down an enclosed slide. My dad, myself, and JD were taking turns riding down the slide with Logan and we had decided to go just one more time before we left because the wind was sooo cold! JD decided to go down with him and as they were going down Logan stuck his foot out to stop them and.... I'll save ya'll the details.
He has been such a TROOPER, I mean the child has never once complained since that first day. He handled the ER visit outstanding and we are very proud of him.
Getting his x rays at the ER...
The technician was so very nice. He told Logan that Thomas the train brought this big camera in just for him to take a picture of his leg. It really put Logan at ease and he handled the situation like a big boy!
After we got home from the ER. They put him in a postural cast until we could get an appt a week later for an orthopedic surgeon. Notice all the Thomas stickers, we had some for each leg. Poor bub, thank goodness Emme & Papa get Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, pretty sure we have seen all the episodes! :)
We made the decision to drive home the next day in order to get Logan in to see an orthopedic surgeon in Tyler. A little tylenol with codeine and setting his car seat up like a throne with a view of any movie he wanted... he was one happy camper! He really did awesome though, probably one of the best drives home.
We made it home in one piece and got in to see an orthopedic surgeon the next week. They took off his postural cast and took some more xrays to make sure everything is still in place, which it was, praise the Lord! The PA we saw put Logan in a hard cast-- told us we would need to come back in 1 week for xray with cast on then at 2 weeks we would get a new cast more xrays and then not be seen for another 4- 5 weeks depending on xrays.
Logan and his hard "Lighting McQueen" cast.
He thought it was SO cool, especially after we had some of his friends sign in!
Thank you MK, Macy, & Tessa!!
The train table that has saved us from going crazy at home! :)
Little man just doing what his does best, going with the flow!
Growing up so fast!
I went to Wal-Mart one day and just found a bunch of little craft/activity things for us to do at home so we stay active and not get bored. Window crayons were one of those things...
A sweet friend brought Logan sponge capsules that you put in water and they dissolve into shapes. He got some car sponges from that--- talk about excited! It was a fun activity, we have done one each night!
Thank you MK & Mrs. Kathryn!!
Thought I should throw a few pics of the little man.
Doing the capsules for the first time.
Yay!!
A boat and motorcycle!
Our first week went pretty well, not too stir crazy yet, and Logan has finally started getting used to the cast. Although frustrating at first, I mean he is an ACTIVE and BUSY 2 year old, he has learned very quickly how to get around and maneuver himself.
Thank you everyone for your prayers during this time.
Everything was the best it could have been, no growth plates were affected, the break was in line and a very stable break, very little pain, and there have been multiple blessings that have come out of this situation so we feel very blessed for all of these things.
Much love,
The Weathers
