Taekwondo

In July we started Logan in Taekwondo.
We were looking for a sport or hobby that he would be interested in and could do at the age of 3/4.  Since he is not doing school this year we wanted him to be able to be involved in something on his own. We wanted to encourage him in his strengths yet build him up in some areas we have been working on, such as coordination, respect, & self control.

He was too young for soccer still, qualified for rugby-- but, were not sure that that would be encouraging him in self-control aspect, they don't have tball, tennis does not interest him, and neither does playing an instrument at this time. I had a friend tell me about her son, who is older, had been taking Taekwondo and how much he enjoyed it. They had a trial class that Logan could try for free and if he enjoyed it we could register. Well, to say he enjoyed it would be an understatement. The smile below is the smile that stays on this child's face the WHOLE time he is in class.

His new uniform.

He was so proud that after one lesson he earned a color on his belt.

As of right now he has earned 4 colors, working on his 5th! We are so proud of him!
It has been a wonderful experience for him! It has helped him to improve his coordination, learn self-control, respect other adults (not that this was a problem, but it is nice to see him respecting his teachers), and allow him to have fun at the same time! Most of the time he is one on one with an instructor learning key Taekwondo moves!
